The Chairman of the Community mohel
Max (Menachem-Mendl) Freizon with G-d's help has been performing circumcision
for 10 years both of the newborns and the adult Jews returning to Judaism. |

Presently the Community is the only one in St.Petersburg to conduct
funerals according to the Judaism requirements. |

In 1993 the building of the Lavabo House
at the Jewish cemetery was turned over to the Community. But the situation
at the cemetery remained tense.
The territory of the cemetery belongs to the non-Jewish organization.
Within the last two years only the Lavabo House was exposed to arsons and
fascist destruction twice. |

Periodically tombstones and graves at the Jewish cemetery are being
attacked. Under those difficult conditions the Community is trying to reconstruct
the Lavabo House , take care of the graves at the cemetery, with its own
resources provides a 24-hour watch and security of the Lavabo House and
the cemetery itself. |

A couple of times a week the Community conducts open classes on Judaism.
The weekly chapter, Jewish philosophy and traditions are included into the
curriculum. The Community organizes and carries out Jewish holidays celebrations.
Helping single and aged brothers is an important direction of the community
work. The help is available through the funds raised by the community members
and personal involvement. |
