The cupola of the theatre

The cupola is a historical detail of decor of the Mariinsky theatre. There is also an interesting story about it: after the communist revolution a crown was stolen. The rest of the composition - a lyre - in the beginning of 90's was badly damaged. It was decided to restore the lyre and the crown. In 1996 the Institute of Galvanoplastics finished its work, and the cupola got back its previous image - the lyre, headed with the crown.
