New Ticket Complex for the Hermitage Museum
The opening of a new complex for booking tickets took place on 14 April
1999.
The complex fitted with modern equipment provides the public with specially
developed tickets showing views of the Hermitage. Four new POS terminals
SIEMENS NIXDORF BEETL 60 RTF with thermo-printers BOCA 41 MB are installed
in the Hermitage, and the same terminal with a printer in the Menshikov
Palace, the Branch of the Museum. All the units of the equipment are linked
into a united system. A special computer program was developed to resolve
the problem of automatization of the process of providing all kinds of
tickets including season tickets.
Besides, the system produces book-keeping accounts and gives statistical
data on the public admission. The installation was carried out by members
of the Hermitage staff jointly with the firm INFOTEC. The Director of
the Museum Mikhail Piotrovsky and his Personal assistants were the first
persons amongst those who booked new tickets at a new booking-office of
the Museum.
