The first seminar of the museums press departments
staff of Saint-Petersburg and Leningrad region
The seminar attended 53 members of the museum staff who directly deal
with the press. The senior manager of the State Hermitage press department
Larisa Aerova focused in her report, that was the first on the agenda,
on the history of the department and the basic activities of it. The report
of Tatiana Pchelyanskaya, the senior manager of the press-service of the
Russian Museum, revealed structural problems of this service responsible
for the contacts with mass media. The deputy director of the Institute
of Cultural Programmes Irina Kizilova informed the audience about consultations
and practical seminars of the Institute on the problem of contacts between
museums and the press and also about the programme "The Great Cultural
Embassy of Saint-Petersburg in New York" in April 2000. The journalistic
staff were represented by Yuriy Svetov from the Moscow "Passport. Express"
periodical and Anna Vsemirnaya, a journalist of Radio Russia. The winners
of the twelvemonth quiz on Radio Russia devoted to the Hermitage Museum
will get a prize - a visit to Saint-Petersburg and its worldknown Museum.
The representative of the Promyshlenno-stroitelnyi Bank Irina Sharipova
spoke about participation of the Bank together with the Memorial Museum
of Alexander Pushkin in the celebration of 200 anniversary of the poet's
birthday and about exhibition "There is no freedom without money..."organized
by the Bank. The guests of the Hermitage visited the exhibitions "Realms
of the Eagle. Empire Style" and "French art of the XXth century. Pierre
Bonnard and Maurice Denis" in the General Staff building. They also got
acquainted with the work of the Department of Scientific Restoration of
Tempera Paintings and attended a concert of "Saint-Petersburg Camerata"
orchestra in the Hermitage Theatre.
