Concert of The Hermitage Academy of Music
The words taken as the name for the project
were exclaimed by Catherine II to answer the question of who should be
invited to the Russian court to fulfil the honourable mission of creating
Russian school of music - ...only Mozart! The project directed
by the conductor Saulus Sondetskis implies a number of concerts. The first
one was held on 5 October 1999 in the Alexander Hall of the Winter Palace.
The orchestra of the State Hermitage Saint-Petersburg Camerata
and the Chapel Choir of Saint-Petersburg performed Requiem. On
22 December 1999 in the Hall of Jupiter of the New Hermitage two pieces
were performed - Symphony N 41 Jupiter and Concertanto for violin
and viola. On 8 February visitors of the Museum listened to the following
pieces of the great composer - Concerto for oboe with orchestra in C major,
KV.314 and Symphony N 40 in G minor, KV.550 performed by the orchestra
of the State Hermitage Saint-Petersburg Camerata.
