Badge of the Horseguards
Regiment, honouring the 25th
Anniversary of Imperial Patronage
Alfred Thilemann
Faberge workshop
Gold, silver, enamel
This badge was instituted on March 2, 1906, in
honour of the 25th anniversary of the Dowager
Empress Maria Fyodorovna's official patronage
of the Regiment. It takes the form of the
Regiment's small white and red flag with the
monogram FM attached; the composition
terminates in the double-headed eagle. Engraved
on the reverse is the figure XXV.
The badge is still in its original case, bearing the
trade-mark of the Faberge firm, supplier to the
royal court, which includes the representation of
the double-headed eagle and the
inscription:[trans.] St Petersburg, Moscow,
London.
On the reverse is the artist's mark and the
hallmark 56.
