Pereshchepina Treasure
This goblet consists of a cup and stand of complex construction, consisting of
several soldered parts. The cup is decorated with a chased relief representing floral
ornament. The hollow ball-shaped part of the stand includes a bell which rang when the
goblet was picked up at feasts and ceremonies. It is thought that the ring of the bell was
not only to amuse the revellers but also to drive away evil spirits.
There were eleven similar goblets in the
Pereshchepina treasure.
